Our Story

She said yes.

Every love story is beautiful — ours just happens to be our favorite. What began as a spark became the easiest yes of our lives, and now we are gathering everyone we love in the North Georgia mountains to say forever.

Join us for a weekend of joy, laughter, and celebration as two families become one.

Two perspectives. One beautiful love story.

Our Love Story ❤️

On a random Saturday afternoon, I was being lazy and absolutely did not feel like cooking. As I was scrolling through Instagram, his food business popped up on my feed. I remember thinking, “Wow, I haven’t had shawarma since I left Nigeria, and I would really love to have some right now.” And, of course, it meant I wouldn’t have to cook. A win-win situation!

My best friend was visiting for the weekend, so we decided to patronize his business and order some food. Fortunately, I wasn’t the one who went to pick it up, because if I had, who knows? We probably wouldn’t be standing here today. But we’ll get to that part later!

Fast-forward a couple of months, and our paths crossed again. This time, at a concert. Our eyes met, we smiled at each other, and then we simply walked away, completely unaware that this wasn’t the first time our lives had crossed paths or that it wouldn’t be the last.

A few months later, I was casually doomscrolling on Instagram when his personal profile appeared in my suggested accounts. Naturally, I clicked on it, looked through his pictures, and thought, “Damn, he’s a fine man!”

Then I noticed that one of my best friends was following him. I immediately texted her, asking, “Who is this, please?”

She replied, “That’s the shawarma guy! Do you want me to hook you up?”

And I said, “YES, PLEASE! I’m very single!”

And, well, the rest is history.

I still remember our very first conversation to this day. From the moment we started talking, I just knew there was something special about him. I knew he was the man for me.

And since then, there has never been a boring day, night, or even minute with him. We’re two peas in a pod, and somehow, even the most ordinary moments become an adventure when we’re together.

Who would have thought that one lazy Saturday afternoon, a craving for Nigerian shawarma, a concert, and a little Instagram stalking would bring us here?

And to think, it all started because I didn’t feel like cooking. ❤️

His Side of the Story

They say the way to someone’s heart is through their stomach. In my case, I think there might be some truth to that.

At the time, I was running my food business, Maazi Chops, and our mutual friend, Wari, would order shawarma and suya for herself and Anu. Little did I know I was feeding my future wife before I even knew her.

We eventually crossed paths at a concert, where she was with Wari. We exchanged smiles and went our separate ways. I had no idea that the beautiful woman I’d just seen would one day become my wife.

Then one day, Wari asked if I was single. When I said yes, she told me she had an amazing friend who she thought would be perfect for me. She shared Anu’s Instagram, and I wasn’t about to let that opportunity pass me by. That very night, I slid into her DMs, and what started as a simple message turned into a conversation neither of us wanted to end.

We talked for hours about our shared Air Force secondary boarding school experiences, our love for Vikings and The Last Kingdom, and just about everything in between. Talking to her felt so effortless, like reconnecting with someone I’d known my entire life.

On January 22, 2022, we went on our first date. What followed were years of laughter, adventures, beautiful memories, and a love that only grew stronger. Somewhere along the way, she became my best friend, my favorite person, and the woman I couldn’t imagine living without.

On January 3, 2026, I asked her to spend forever with me. And she said yes.

Looking back, it’s incredible how a few shawarma orders, a chance encounter, and a little help from Wari brought us here.

I started by making her shawarma. Now I get to spend the rest of my life making her happy. ❤️
